Only in Levy County can there be found a settlement of Crackertown, neighboring the town of Yankeetown! Both are located together on County Road 40 off US 19 at Inglis and on the north bands of the Withlacooche River that flows west into the Gulf of Mexico.
The Crackertown settlement has several small shops, a colorful Bed and Breakfast and its cultural center of Yogi’s Sunoco Station and Convenience Store.
Immediately west is Yankeetown, population 558 (2020), a commercial and recreational fishing town with a scenic drive ending at boat ramps into the Gulf of Mexico. The town is regionally famous for providing the setting for the Elvis Presley movie Follow That Dream that was filmed near the Bird Creek Bridge. The town was founded by Armanis F. Knotts in 1923, who marketed the area’s quality hunting and fishing to his friends in Indiana who migrated south to establish their own Yankee Town.
