Friday Night Lights
Madison County vs. Union County, FL
High School Friday Night Lights is a gala event of pageantry and action for North Florida rural communities, especially when defending state champion Madison County invades Union County for a state championship playoff game. When the stadium lights come on, a social and cultural festival ignites with bands, cheerleaders, and colorfully decorated fans yelling, screaming, and eating hotdogs and slightly burned burgers. On the playing field the two teams tackle, block, kick, run, and catch seeking glory and honor for their team and school. This is culture and tradition in action as the Tigers outran the Cowboys 27-16 and two exhausted teams then shook hands, gladiators respecting each other after 48 minutes of intense action under the Friday Night Lights.
