The Floral City Cottages

The historic old cottages were built along what is now US41, then FL State Road 5, in the mid 1920s on what was a fish camp on Lake Magnolia and construction of the cottages coincided with the 1920s Florida Land Boom. Sportsmen and travelers found overnight lodging in what were mostly one room cottages and several Florida pioneer duplexes, some with wooden shingles on the rooves and outer walls. The preserved cluster of cottages is a history lesson of early travel and roadside lodging in early Citrus County, Florida.
