Palatka- The Hammock

Old Palatka can be found in the The Hammock South Historic District which consists primarily of the blocks south of Laurel Street and northwest of King Street. A blend of architectural styles, many homes were built before 1885 and belong to the Gothic Revival, Greek Revival, Georgian Revival and several Victorian styles. The Hammocks was considered one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Palatka and was named for the large moss-covered oak trees and tall magnolias overlooking the city’s best views of the St. Johns River.
